The Story of MASUKAME

Birth of an Idea

MASUKAME is a made-to-order wooden sculpture that unites two auspicious Japanese motifs: Masu—the traditional wooden box historically linked to increase and prosperity—and Kame, the turtle symbolizing longevity. Each piece balances the quiet geometry of the masu with gently modeled limbs and a poised neck, creating a character sculpture that feels both timeless and contemporary.
